Racing Seat Belts
Racing Seat Belts are commonly called just a seat belt or a seat belt harness, although they all mean the same thing when it comes to racing seats. Racing seat belts are specifically designed to secure the driver of the race car into the seat. In case of a collision or sudden stop, racing seat belts provide protection against harmful injuries. Primarily designed to stop the driver from injuries that may occur by hitting a hard interior surface of the vehicle and to prevent the occupant from being ejected from the vehicle. Racing seat belts work by absorbing the energy discharged during impact with another vehicle or obsticle.
Five point harnesses are generally used as racing seat belts, where the harness is fastened to the frame or sub frame of the vehicle, instead of the actual seat. The six point racing seat belt became popular after the death of Dale Earnhardt on the racetrack. He was wearing a five point seat belt and many though the weak link (and the cause of his death) was that the racing seat belt was attached to his seat, not the frame.

im just wondering if racing ( 5 point ) seat belts are legal in Canada?
A Not for Street Use - they don't meet D.O.T./M.O.T. standards even though they are safer. And their latches do not meet standards for passenger cars either. SORRY. If you look in my 1958 Jaguar that I had modified for seat belts you will find two set of belts for the driver and passenger. There is a set of lap belts to satisfy the safety gurus and a set of 5 racing belts for rallying.
i want to install some in my new car but I dont want to cut anything...or take bolts in and out..and not to good with installing things and cars
A super glue ought to do the job.
